"Nach dem Aufstehen und vor dem Liegen" is a dance performance by Zoë Schreckenberg, that I did the stage design for. I repurposed an old street lantern to created a dimmable interactive light sculpture that served as the center piece of the stage. The performance analyses the perception and function of transition phases. The focus is on the moments in between: A process that includes a change in time, space or state of mind. People are constantly confronted by them -consciously or not- from the moment when passing by transition places, such as airports, stations, waiting rooms to the in- between moments of decision making, the process of searching, the going through a loss, the time of growing. This performance experiments with such moments of transition by combining the main element of body movement with improvised electronic live sound and an interactive set design. The aim is to give attention to the overlapping moments in time, the displacement in space and highlight the hidden, inconspicuous states of being.
